Wir haben mal aus Spass das “Kompetenzshirt für den Abgeordneten von Morgen” im newthinking-Spreadshirt-Shop gebastelt. Ist mit 23,42 Euro aber ganz schön teuer. Liegt aber an Spreadshirt. Falls sich davon tatsächlich welche verkaufen lassen, spenden wir die zwei Euro Erlös pro T-Shirt gerne an die c-base.

c-base needs your help and attention for its continued existence.
to my knowledge, no other independent group in europe has done more
for research and inspiration into the field of open wireless networking.
from promotion of German designed and acclaimed meshcubes, to
promoting research and experimentation with wardriving, wireless
mapping, wireless meshing, OLSR, and more recently a possible
successor B.A.T.M.A.N.
weekly events including wireless antenna building workshops have been
held there regularly for years.
3d artists, musicians, gaming freaks, wireless networkers, embedded
hackers, caffeine freaks and more have all regularly used the c-base
and the cross-disciplinary cooperation and cross-talk is unique to c-
base.
From the initial BerLon (Berlin/London) meeting that spawned the
Picopeering agreement framework (that inspired the FNPA), to being
critical in the formation of “freifunk.net” the on-going importance
of incubating ideas that eminates from c-base cannot easily be
overestimated.
If you’ve ever visited c-base and experienced their extraordinary
hospitality, please consider a symbol of gratitude in terms of a
donation, as they really need it now.

I’m Nick Farr, Treasurer of the Hacker Foundation. We will be
visiting Berlin hackerspaces shortly after CCCamp, and we’re
interested in doing whatever we can in the USA to help keep C-Base
alive. Your facility, which several of us were fortunate enough to
tour during the 23C3, is an inspiration to the slowly growing public
hackerspace movement in the US.
May we start a US-based support fund for C-Base? May we also accept
donations on your behalf in the United States? Would it also be OK to
use any space left on our charter plane flight for hackersonaplane as
a fundraiser for C-base? Any other ideas we haven’t thought of?
If there are any other ways we can offer support, please let us know.

Wir haben nun eine offizielle Pressemitteilung - die unmittelbar an Berliner Printmedien versandt wurde.
Die am Dienstag dem 03.07.07 gestarte Guerilla Presse-Aktion seitens der c-base Member zeigt mittlerweile ein gewaltiges Echo. Neben diversen Online-Zeitschriften hat sich die Nachricht auch in vielen Blogs wie ein Weltenbrand verbreitet.

Die COS gestern war eine der besten wenn nicht die beste.
schade dass achim sie nicht ganz mitbekommen hat. egal.es war eine tolle band da aus belin. punkrock vom feinsten
mit einer wundervollen sängerin. ok die band muss noch besser werden aber Jane ... Luba Dvorak hat gestern vorbeigesehen und wer bis 3 uhr geblieben
wäre hätte ein tolles konzert erlebt. xara war da und
ist mitglied geworden, weil sie findet, dass man sowas wie die
c-base unterstützen muss. sie könnte sich auch vorstellen,
gleich als halbsamurai einzusteigen.Und Und Und Es war wunderbar. Noch zu erwähnen wäre noch Kumpels beispielhafter Einsatz hinter der Bar.
Er kommt auch einfach gut an bei den Gästen.

the c-base is entirely financed by monthly membership fees. thus the c-base doesn't have enough members to cover the monthly costs (rent, power supply, etc...), the c-base has to let (lease) the mainhall to people who organise events. the rent is ca. 4.3k, with electricity and internet it's up to 5.5-6k. due to a very high back payment for electricity (2.5k) in the end of 2005 and for the basement rooms (2k) in 2006, the debts piled up and the c-base had trouble to keep up with the monthly payments. also the german collecting society GEMA repeatedly tries to squeeze money out the c-base. so far for the how did it happen... more news coming up.
